Hey all!
Today was the first day of classes, one class down and so far so good! I spent some time walking around the neighborhood with Grace this morning and she showed me all the best empanada places and cafes : )) I left the house at a little before 2 with the intentions of exploring a park and the Japanese Gardens but as I passed the horse racetrack I couldn't help myself... : ))
I got there about 20 minutes before the first race of the day! Every Monday there are races all afternoon, it's free to enter the tracks, but not so free if you choose to gamble : )) I spent 20 minutes in total awe of all the horses, you can get right next to them as the trainers warm them up. It made me miss mine! haha. The grand scale of this place can't be captured in a photo but I did my best : ) It's a crazy, great feeling to be able to go wherever the day takes me!
 |
| Solo trip to the supermarket to buy things for lunch! Sometimes the guessing what things are is fun : )) I think I still got some good deals! The yellow bag on the left is similar to Honey Nut Cheerios from as far as I can tell! I will let you know how they measure up! |
 |
| About 6 or 7 dogs of all shapes and sizes waiting on the street for their walker... I couldn't help myself : )) The dogs are so well behaved here! I saw one lady leave hers at the door of the supermarket and it just stood there and waited, not tied up or anything! haha |

| Hipodromo Argentino de Palermo (Horse Racetrack) |

| Another view from the stands |
 |
| The VIP section: ) They look like sky boxes to me! |
I had my Spanish grammar class today from 4-5:30. There are 2 Italians, 2 boys from France, 1 girl from Germany and 7 of us from the states. The guy and girl from Italy had a fight in Castellano over the death of Amy Winehouse, talk about a first day of classes!I am so excited what the weeks will bring. I talked to a boy named Jean Baptiste from France and it was fun and challenging, I don't speak French and he doesn't know English so Spanish has to work! Tomorrow brings a full day of classes, Contemporary Argentine Art, Social Economy in Latin America and Tango! AYYY! I will keep you all updated!
Besos!
Bailey
